People often say "work smart" and not hard and on the other hand, they still say it pays to "work hard", to be successful you must " work hard" and all the hard work related quotes.
The truth is sometimes it can be very confusing. is hard work the same as working smart or are they different? what does it actually mean to work hard? what does it mean to work Smart? how do you know you're working smart or hard?
Actually in reality there's no difference between hard work and smart work. hard work is simply one's ability to effectively and efficiently utilize limited resources for maximum productivity, and smart work is being wise enough to first check and know if someone else has done what you want to do and leverage their experience and solution.
You shouldn't just concentrate on delivering quality you should be mindful of the time it takes you to deliver. It is possible for a person who spent less time delivering the same work quality as you to earn higher.
smart work leverages. your ability to network among peers and effectively take advantage of resources at your disposal will determine how much of a smart worker you are.

Smart workers also understand that there's a difference between "your best" and the "required best". many people are out of jobs today because they failed to understand the difference between both. And some others complain about not being promoted, they feel like and believe they have done their best but yet their effort is not appreciated, or the appreciation they receive is not commensurate to the efforts they make.
Your best is not good enough until it meets the required best. before you do your best, try to understand who defines best in your organization and what they define best as. whatever and however they define best is what the required best is. do not go out of it, or below it, instead, go beyond it.
In some cases required best may be defined by your boss, client/ customer, organizational leader, chairman, president, government, past accomplishments, future aspirations, or societal standards. don't assume you are doing your best be sure you are doing the best.
People will not appreciate or acknowledge you for the best you think you did, they will only recognize, acknowledge, and appreciate you for doing of being what they considered the best.
You can work long hours, work all day, and still not be appreciated as someone who works fewer hours than you.
Focus on what gives results, focus on the most important things, and ensure that the person you working for or working with Is in agreement with the work you do.
you can work as hard and as long as you want, but make sure there is an element of smartness in all your work.
know when to work, know when to rest, when to exercise, and when to eat. only a healthy body can work. What is the wisdom in overworking the body today, only to be unable to work for the next few days or weeks?
